This will eventually (by the end of term - I hope!) be a wall quilt for the infant school that my two naughty babies have attended and of which I am now a parent guvna.
It's by way of a thank you for the great start my children have had to their school life. Minx and Monster drew the pictures for me :)
Very naughty Minx will become a 'Junior' in September - eek! (She thinks she's 14 already!).
Each class is named after an animal.....and as you can see, it's a big Infant's school with 3 classes in each year.
Minx is a very naughty dolphin.
If you are stopping by for The Chicken News - Moogsdad has fortified the end of the garden ( I think more work may be required to prevent this sort of escape bid) so that the girls have more exercise space.
Silly man is talking about letting them loose all over the garden.
I tend to raise an eyebrow at this point and mutter about my precious veg plot!
By this morning we had amassed a grand total of 5 - 5......that's FIVE.....homemade eggs!!
We decided on scrambled eggs for lunch and the first egg we cracked was one of these:
They were deeeeelicious!
In case you're curious to know what we had for our evening meal, here it is:
Rissotto with (the wrong sort of rice..if you're a rissotto purist!!) chorizzo sausage, green and yellow courgettes, green and red peppers and peas.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Now I'm going to drag my weary old body up to bed to get a good night's sleep for tomorrow we are going to see my bestest (real non-imaginary) friend in Worthing to witness this spectacle.
N.B. apparently it's happening in Worthing 'cos the 'home pier' is broken!!!

If you can contain the chickens between the rows in your garden, they will do a lovely job of weeding - scratching up everything right down to the soil - and fertilizing. If you turn them loose they will likely do the same...byebye vegetables.

The wall quilt is looking great...... 5 eggs what a fine job the girls are doing....I don't think chickens and a veggie patch go together.
Suggest you organise the girls into a team and take part yourselves that way they will be too tired to dig anything!
Minx may be a naughty Dolphin, but she's an incredible animal artist! That's going to be a great quilt.

I love the animal drawings on that quilt - gorgeous - they could be used as children's book illustrations.
Chicken Towers is quite a spectacle too. Not sure about letting them loose throughout the garden though - I expect the ladies are quite good at pecking aswell as laying.
Oh wow - can't wait to read the blog about the flying birdmen (or rapidly-sinking-to-the-ground-men as they might more accurately be called).
