Done!!

I'm in trumpet blowing mood here! I know, I know that pride comes before a fall and all that but I just cannot help but feel more than a tiny bit of smug self satisfaction that I've ventured into the scary grown-up world of Fair Isley knittage and made something wearable!

Mitten #2 was completed last night :) :) :)

Due to the colour stranding my tension was far tighter than usual and I was concerned at the snugness of these babies.

Then I 'invented' myself a pair of 'mitten blocks' (patent pending ;-) ), using some very hard thick card wrapped in clingfilm. The mittens were then stretched over the Moogsmum Mitten-blocker MKI (pp), dampened, shaped and left to dry overnight.

The result was a pair of perfectly fitting, rather loverlyifIdosaysomyself, mittens (with wibbly wobbly unblocked thumbs - mitten blocker MKII required?) .

All I need now is COLD COLD weather and lots of it.

You have me to thank for whatever the coming winter throws at us ;-)

ooooh, lovely mittens!!!

And blow that horn loud and clear - you're entitled! I'd be pleased with myself if I had just made the cuffs. :)

Oh you clever, clever Moogsmum, you. Where do I sign up to order a pair?

Am loving the sound of the Moogsmum Mitten Blocker MK1. Sounds very exciting and technical. Oh, and they look quite magnificent by the way!

Ok...Where is Mrs. Moog and what have you done with her??? I've been under the impression that she is a beginning knitter and therefore these GORGEOUS beauties can't have been done by her!!! Put her back on this blog and no one will get hurt!

I think you are quite justified at a little trumpet blowing. I also think you should wear them all the time whatever the weather.

They look lovely and I'm sure you are going to enjoy wearing them, and recieve lots of nice comments. Will there be a matching hat and scarf?

Well, now you've been and gone and got organised, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we have a mild winter - and when we have no snpw for snowmen I shall know precisely who to complain to!

Lovely mittens. I think I'd like a pair too but FairIsle is WAAAAAAAY too scary. Mine always ends up full of holes.

Or you could just have individual thumb blockers?

Wow! Amazing mittens - clever you Mrs M!
Stick your hands in the freezer for a bit then they'll be good and chilly for your splendid mittens!

Well done. I could send you some of our unseasonal cold weather however I don't think it is cold enough to wear mittens.

The mittens are fantastic - blow that trumpet woman! I love Fair Isle (as you may know!!!) and this just makes me even more convinced that it's the best form of knitting there is. Sooper dooper Mrs Moog!

This is knitting beyond imagining. This is super knitting, from catalogues. This is very very beautiful.

Word verif: mopingly. I am sloping off, mopingly, because all I can do is garter and purl.

So when there's no snow, but instead it's warm and drizzly all winter, we will have your mittens to thank, I guess... They are lovely, though. If I wasn't allergic to wool, I'd covet them.

wow - they're gorgeous - I can understand why you're so pleased with them. It's definitely turned colder here today with a northerly wind so hopefully you're giving them their first public wearing and enjoying them lots.
