My yearning to make a red and turquoisy quilt RIGHT NOW led me to delve a bit deeper into my stash today and it would seem I won't be needing to do any emergency fabric buying after all!
It's amazing what you can unearth when a new obsession strikes!!
As it's my first attempt I've gone for simple squares.
My second attempt will also be in simple squares!!
Now all I need to do is get stitching.
I can see this leading me down a slippery slope - before I know it I'll be hand piecing hexagons!!
Sort of wondering if I should ever have started as I'm now visualising all sorts of patchy projects - oh deary me ;)

Ha! That's it - you're hooked! That's where my mum started - squares (actually it was oblongs on a log cabin quilt) and some years later she's doing all sort of wonderful pointy, appliquéd and other complicated stuff.
Good for you - I think they both look fabulous.

Oh what a shame - no fabric shopping? Still you'll need to buy something nice for the binding and even maybe a border.....

oh boy you are definitely hooked now - both sets of fabrics are lovely but the first is gorgeous! reminds me to get a move on with mine!
As it seems to have worked successfully before let me just say - 'I rather like that pink one. Make sure you parcel it up well. I wouldn't want the postie catching it on anything.'
So someone's been busy with the rotary cutter I see...! Like the red/turquoise combo.
love the red and turquoise combo - looks like you have the quilting bug - its a slippery slope you know...

cam I also just say, loo at this is for a word verification - the longest one I've seen yet: kqefhaoe
what happened to my words there? Lots of them went missing and some got mixed up
Maybe i'm just tired :o(
I made a hand pieced, hand stitched triangle quilt when I was 18. It was very pretty, but I have no idea where it is now!!!
Yours look scrumptious.
Very impressive squares there! But what a shame that you didn't go shopping! You're slipping girl!! lol Mrs Lcket-Pocket has the right idea.
have fun!
Ooh I'm very jealous! I'm just psyching myself up to making my first patchwork/quilty thing. It's definately going to happen soon. I think. Your squares look fantastic!
Ohhhh, you are bitten! The fabrics look great though. I'm having a bit of a red fabric thing at the moment..
I love the red an turquoise combination. I've some red and green squares cut out like that... but that's as far as I got! Have to dig them out one day.
xx
As they say, one thing leads to another. But at least you have something nice when you're finished!
Patchworky goodness - I love turquiose with reds at the moment - for me its turquoise the stone though, with garnets and red swarovskis.
I can't believe you have a slow worm in your garden!Grubby fingers are the sign of good times I reckon.
Fork Handles every time for me, although I do love their joke (may not be exact wording):
The local constabulary are searching for a man who has stolen a shipment of toilet seats. Police say they have nothing to go on!
These are really pretty!!
ooh I am so jealous. Turquoise and red are my favourite colours lately!
Why is your fabric stash so fantastic. Mine is full of old granny fabric :/
Oooohhhh Lesley -- you've been so busy without me! I love the red and turquoise quilt -- have you finished it already? I know I'm terribly late (I'm sooooo sorry) but I love to quilt those big square quilts with a perle cotton making big X's through each block with a bit bigger quilting stitch. It's much faster than little meticulous tiny-stitch-tiny-thread quilting and you won't get the puckers from machine quilting.
Another option is to just do big circles. Just take a kitchen saucer and use it. Draw a circle and quilt it with big stitches. Then draw another circle, overlapping the first one a bit and so on. It's very fun and fairly quick!
