It's amazing what you can unearth when a new obsession strikes!!
As it's my first attempt I've gone for simple squares.
My second attempt will also be in simple squares!!
Now all I need to do is get stitching.
I can see this leading me down a slippery slope - before I know it I'll be hand piecing hexagons!!
Sort of wondering if I should ever have started as I'm now visualising all sorts of patchy projects - oh deary me ;)

Ha! That's it - you're hooked! That's where my mum started - squares (actually it was oblongs on a log cabin quilt) and some years later she's doing all sort of wonderful pointy, appliquéd and other complicated stuff.

Oh what a shame - no fabric shopping? Still you'll need to buy something nice for the binding and even maybe a border.....

As it seems to have worked successfully before let me just say - 'I rather like that pink one. Make sure you parcel it up well. I wouldn't want the postie catching it on anything.'

I made a hand pieced, hand stitched triangle quilt when I was 18. It was very pretty, but I have no idea where it is now!!!

I love the red an turquoise combination. I've some red and green squares cut out like that... but that's as far as I got! Have to dig them out one day.

Patchworky goodness - I love turquiose with reds at the moment - for me its turquoise the stone though, with garnets and red swarovskis.

Oooohhhh Lesley -- you've been so busy without me! I love the red and turquoise quilt -- have you finished it already? I know I'm terribly late (I'm sooooo sorry) but I love to quilt those big square quilts with a perle cotton making big X's through each block with a bit bigger quilting stitch. It's much faster than little meticulous tiny-stitch-tiny-thread quilting and you won't get the puckers from machine quilting.
Another option is to just do big circles. Just take a kitchen saucer and use it. Draw a circle and quilt it with big stitches. Then draw another circle, overlapping the first one a bit and so on. It's very fun and fairly quick!
