I've been wanting to try amigurumi crochet for ages now.
Lucy sent me a link to this great etsy shop - where I purchased a couple of patterns for a baby seal and some gorgeous Matryoshka dolls.
Last night the boys went to watch some old timers play football and once Minx was in bed I got cracking.
By the time the boys got back , Sammy the Seal was ready to meet them. Minx found him waiting next to her bed this morning :)
Lucy has been nagging constantly asking for a photo of him - so here he is...
Awww - quite a good attempt at cute Ruby :)
This little guy is for my sister-in-law's birthday....his friend from a few posts ago accidentally jumped into a parcel that got sent to the Locket woman!

Don't worry folks. Further investigation revealed it is in fact some chocolate she was saving for later!
Here's a little something for the weekend:
Thanks to my friend Helen for sending me a load of these in an email today - lots of blog fodder!!
I have a meeting at work on Monday, after which I hope to have some good news about a little change that could give me more time for crafting....and blogging of course!
Got a rather nice crisp white chilling in the emergency wine chiller freezer to celebrate the fact that it's Friday :)
Happy hooking!
xxxxxx
Friday - definitely worth a celebration! I happen to have a nice bottle of rose on ice myself ;)
ReplyDeleteLoving the seal. Naughty Miss Rooby-Roo sneaking into the photo ops! But I suppose you can't blame a girl for trying.
Dare I go and look at the crochet patterns? Once I do I'm going to be helpless to resist and I have so many other projects! Arrghhh. You're such a bad influence you crafty blogger types :P
xMX
More time for blogging - surely they haven't fired you already ?!
ReplyDeleteI saw that book last week at Loop, and I was SOOOO tempted. Have you come across My Little Mochi yet? You should ...
omg! more ideas .. life just isn't long enough to try anything, nevermind to short to do what you don't want to .. blimey. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

That Ruby monkee is shameles - can't think who she gets that from!
ReplyDeleteLove your little seal and the other projects look great too - oh too many projects, too little time!
Locket (the nagging one!)
Cute little seal chappy.
ReplyDeleteHi Ruby - I know you're reading this!
Celebrate that friday miss.
Uh-oh, more friends to crochet. The seal is especially adorable. Ruby really is a camera hog, isn't she?
ReplyDeleteAwww, cute seal. I don't think I could do that crocheting - looks far too complicated *blush*
ReplyDeleteSuch good news that you might have more time for blogging and crafting - hooray!
x
PS word verification = inkyoqpm. I hope there is a stain remover for that oqpm, ink is a b*gger to get out.
You are really clever with your complicated crocheting and needle felting!
ReplyDeleteLoving Ruby's seal poses!
Looks like this crochet lark is rather catching and very, very addictive. I got the Russian doll pattern and have made all 3 sweeties. Will photo them tomorrow. Love the seal.
ReplyDelete(And I love you too Ruby x)
Enjoy your vino!

That Ruby!! What's she like?! She appears to have a little tuft on the top of her head too.
ReplyDeleteNow you're just showing off with the crochet! I love the seal ans so want to learn how to do any form of crochet.
I'm loving the tortoise. Do you knit him first or just shape the felting as you go. I made 3 felt balls last week and gave up after the fourth time I stabbed myself!
Can't wait to hear the news to get you back to more crafting and blogging, it's very quiet without you.
You can't keep a good knitted monkee down you should know that. I do love that turtle and you little seal is so sweet I struggle with crochet.
ReplyDelete(Dare I say it?) My tipple tonight is a drop of Tullamore Dew - Irish Whiskey. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteGood to see Ruby and your lovely new friends. I'm glad it was only chocolate.
Sorry but I think I'll leave the crochet to you. Used to do a little but daren't take up anything else now (although I was given a rug hook today.....)
Enjoy your weekend x
Oooooooooo! Work meetings. With interesting outcomes. Leaving more blogging time. And drowning your sorrows with white wine. You got the sack didn't you?
ReplyDeleteThey read the post about the incest capital of Nthn Europe and now you are for the high jump my girl!
Ok, this is so out of my league...what a cutie! Are they letting you craft at work then?!!!

Im going to check out the link for the free paterns now, thanks.
ReplyDeleteSarah x
Lesley, I can't get over how quick you are at finishing these projects, Sammy the Seal is fantastic, and great to see how him and Ruby have bonded so well, so soon. Are you going to make any of those cute bears, I think they would be popular, I like the Matryoshka too. I nearly forgot to mention the tortoise, your sister-in-law will love him. x
ReplyDeleteOh so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love that little seal but know I don't have the patience for such little crochet (and I can't follow a pattern)... Ruby is very persistent!
ReplyDeleteHope the wine was good... I'm about the pour myself a large G & T and get into a hot bath!
Must learn to crochet. And that Ruby is something else!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you just taught yourself to crochet arigarumi's just like that!! It's adorable!!! I haven't learned to crochet yet, but my daughter just picked up a book on it and she's been dying to learn! Thanks for the link to patterns! I will wait to hear about your job news... it sounds good for us but I'm not so sure what's going on there for you! Hope you've had a great weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteokay.. i can't spell!!! ha ha ha... amigurumi!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I forgot to say that your turtle is great!! I love his little face! You're so multi-talented!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, you have been busy and I am so loving the poster...
ReplyDeleteOoooh, that seal is sooooo cute!! Shall you be making more for your shop, perchance??
ReplyDeleteI bought an arigur .... arrigu .... crochet toy pattern (a monkey, funnily enough) but it looks much too completed so I haven't tried it yet.
Glad to see that Ruby is getting in on the act too!
:)
love your little seal pup - very cute indeed! Hope your meeting went well today x
ReplyDeleteI think someone might be jealous of not getting all the attention all of the time!!
ReplyDeleteRuby loves the camera. Have fun with your amigurmi, it's so fun and easy. At first I danced around it for a while but then I gave it a try and really took to it. Hope your meeting goes well, lots of love,
ReplyDeleteDy
That Ruby is a crack up! Love the little one-eyed monster you made -- I've been meaning to try that ami-stuff myself. Glad you're adjusting to being back at work -- I'd love to be part time -- and I'd definitely prefer fewer long days to many short days -- by the time you get everything together, you might as well tough it out and complete a long day!
